Gregory & Company Authors' Agents was originally formed as a partnership. Jane Gregory is now the sole owner.
We were immensely proud to have been voted the second best literary agents in a poll conducted by the Society of Authors in 1999.
We see editing as part of the agency's long- term commitment to an author and we pioneered the now popular trend of employing an in-house editor to shape and polish typescripts before sending them to publishers. If an editor has to choose between a new author, who has been edited by us, or one that requires work, the choice is obvious. We offer extensive editorial advice and guidance to ensure that a typescript is in its best possible form before being submitted to a publisher.
We have purposefully kept our list of authors small to ensure that we have time to devote to each author. We are particularly interested in books that we can sell to publishers abroad as we have been hugely successful selling our authors to publishers throughout the world as well as to film and television.
We are known as the foremost agents for crime and thrillers although we handle many types of fiction and general non-fiction and our interests are wide-ranging. However, we do not represent science fiction, poetry, academic or children's books, original plays or scripts for television or film (we only handle film and television rights in published books).
