McDermid, Val
Val McDermid was educated at Oxford and worked as a journalist for several years. Her novel THE MERMAIDS SINGING won the CWA Gold Dagger Award for Best Crime Novel of the Year in 1995.
A PLACE 0F EXECUTION, which has now been adapted into a three-part drama, was shortlisted for the Gold Dagger and the Edgar and won the Los Angeles Times Book Prize. The TV series, WIRE IN THE BLOOD, has also been adapted from her work. Val is now working on the new Tony Hill book, UNREDEEMABLE.
